Tempvs Compvtare is a luxurious Watch brand, in which the interpretation of the “Luxury” word is peculiar, where the very etymology of this often-hackneyed term, finally becomes meaningful. To produce in small amount with special regards to quality and design high-end watches, eco-aware, 100% produced and assembled in Switzerland.
Its history begins in 2008, several elements, values and convictions inspired the creation of Tempvs Compvtare. Starting with the strong feeling of revolt experienced by Nicolas R. Jeanson while watching the worldwide awarded movie “Sharkwater”, directed by Rob Stewart, its subject: the organized slaughter of sharks.
This reinforced his conviction that with a sufficient will, it is possible to change behaviours regarding environmental conservation and thus to inform and sensitize on the consequences of the programmed extinction of many species.
The passion for watches and the conviction that the luxury field is an ideal vector to instigate changes and promote messages in favour of the conservation of species, naturally led Nicolas R. Jeanson to create Tempvs Compvtare. The brand was then initiated with the firm intention to take actions for the conservation of sharks in partnership with Rob Stewart, Director and President of Sharkwater.
Doctor in industrial design and sculptor, Nicolas R. Jeanson began his career as an automotive designer for the most famous brands of the sector. He then decided to embark on watch-making adventure and designed the first Tempvs Compvtare’s model: The “Shark Watcher”.
Success is immediate with a first presentation of the brand Tempvs Compvtare and the launching of The Shark Watcher during the first edition of the Geneva Time Exhibition in January 2010. Rob Stewart legitimately held 2 conferences on the importance of sharks’ conservation throughout the world. In Switzerland the use of Sharks or Stingray leather, better known under the denomination “Shagreen”, is still widespread, particularly in the Watch Industry.
Tempvs Compvtare continues with taking part at the Tokyo Watch Fair in January 2010, its presence being particularly legitimated by the fact that Asia is the first consuming area for shark fins and is also used as global hub for this illegal traffic, devastating for the Oceans.
2010 Baselworld Fair was the occasion to present the second Tempvs Compvtare’s model: The “Sea Shepherd Watch”, in collaboration with the worldwide known association: “Sea Shepherd Conservation Society”. This organisation is firmly committed to marine Conservation, thanks to Captain Paul Watson, founder and president of the NGO since its creation in 1977. Paul Watson held two conferences during Baselworld where he explained the importance to conserve our marine ecosystem and the determination with which his NGO tries to have the international treaties respected.
During the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, the two first models of the brand, The “Shark Watcher” and The “Sea Shepherd Watch” were exposed on “La Croisette”, whereas the “Steve Irwin”, flagship of the Captain Paul Watson was anchored in the bay of Cannes.
In June 2010 for the Watch Night of Monaco, TEMPVS COMPVTARE presented The “Sea Shepherd Watch” which obtained a great success among Monaco’s public, while at the very same time Sea Shepherd Conservation Society launched its “Blue Rage” Campaign for the conservation of Blue Fin Tuna in the Mediterranean Sea.
For the Asian premiere of the documentary “Sharkwater” in June 2010, Tempvs Compvtare was alongside Rob Stewart and in partnership with the NGO EcoVision Asia for this major event, which took place in Hong Kong, Kingdom of shark fins.
In January 2011, Tempvs Compvtare participates in the second edition of the Geneva Time Exhibition, where many professionals, connoisseurs and amateurs could discover the models and learn some more about the values defended by the brand.
At the end of March 2011, Tempvs Compvtare’s team welcomed Mr. Larbi LEBJAOUI, Architect of formation, enjoying a great experiment in Business and in complete agreement with the brand’s values.
The year 2011 finally saw the opening of Tempvs Compvtare’s Showroom, Rue de Berne 9, in Geneva, where, from now on, the new models of the brand are presented.
A third Tempvs Compvtare’s model is under development, the “Bee Watcher”, which will be dedicated to the Conservation of Black Bees, these pollinators essential to the entire ecosystem sustainability and yet today threatened of extinction. This model is made in partnership with the French NGO “Terre d’Abeilles” working for the creation of an “European Apiary Conservatory of the Black Bee”.
Tempvs Compvtare is thus a high quality Watch brand founded on strong values and deeply held beliefs. It is above all a militant brand, Vegan, committed in the conservation of species, whose production and assembly are entirely manufactured in Switzerland, mostly in Neuchâtel’s Canton, historical birthplace of the Swiss Watch Industry. The commitments of Tempvs Compvtare go beyond the simple collaboration with NGO since no animal skin is used, proposed or recommended in Tempvs Compvtare’s catalog. A financial support and a media representation are brought, thus Tempvs Compvtare becomes the voice of its NGO partners, such as Sharkwater or Sea Shepherd Conservation Society during various events, watch related or not, in which the brand takes part in.
Finally Tempvs Compvtare supports many other NGO such as Shark Angels, United Conservationists, Ecovision, Pangea Seed, or the Foundation Brigitte Bardot.
